Chicken Skin and I went to the rally they had the other day at Westlake. It was fun. There was Blue Thunder, Seagals, and of course Blitz. I can't believe the number of folks that game dressed up like it was game day. Go Hawks!!!

As I sit here watching my fantasy football team today, it occurred to me the one position that does not get any fantasy love is the offensive line.

Why not implement a system for the o line like they have for the defensive team? They can start with a set number of points and then lose points for every sack or tackle for a loss that they give up, then they could get extra points for having a good yards per run average and for every pancake they get.

I think its about time these unsung heroes get a little love.

Chicken Nation, there is a chance today to represent and support the Hawks.

The Seahawks are having a rally downtown today @ 12pm as part of their Kickoff Week activities.  They are promising Blue Thunder, Seagals, and Blitz.  To be honest, I'm most excited about Blitz.  They are claiming there will be fun and prizes during the 45 minute event.

The Hawk Squawk section is up and functional. I put in there two news sources that I like for Seahawk stuff. If you have any other RSS feed suggestions please leave a comment.

I'm also not 100% set on the layout of the news reader. Once there ends up being more feeds, I think it will get troublesome to try going through them all looking for new articles. I'm thinking of either putting an overview at the top, or else mixing the articles from the different sources into one big list sorted chronologically. Let me know any ideas you might have for improving it.

 

New fun and games for the Chicken Nation (ok, maybe it's still only a village at this point). The prediction game is in full swing.

As a Seachicken you can look into your crystal ball and try to see how our Hawks will fair against their opponents. Here is the skinny on how to play:

1. Login (or Signup if you don't have an accound yet)
2. To access the entry form go to the Schedule page, or any individual game's page then look for the link that says "Make a prediction :)".
3. Then just select the score for each team and click Submit.
4. If you change your mind about your score before the game starts, no prob. Just find your prediction and click on it to go back and edit it.

Like all games there are rules:

• Rules
  • You are not allowed to make or edit predictions after the start of the football game.
• Points
  • Correctly guessing the winner = 10pts.
  • Each of your team score guesses is worth points on a sliding scale of how close you were to reality
    • Correct guess = 5pts.
    • ±3 = 4 pts
    • ±7 = 3 pts
    • ±10 = 2 pts
    • ±14 = 1 pts
  • That means there is a total of 20 points available each week
• Prizes
  • This has not been determined yet. It might be a Seachickens t-shirt or something of that nature for the winner. I'll update you on this when that gets determined.

There are some cool new features here at the Seachicken Coop.

The Schedule is now finished, complete with games, times, and results. The results are a link to the game stats page on nfl.

Each game now has its own page. You can get to it from links on the Schedule page. It gives the details of the game, along with a rollup of all the Chicken Feed posts and a comments section for all the chicken faithfull to be able to chatter about the game.

You might also start noticing a new link at the bottom of certain Chicken Feeds. If a post is tied to a particular game, it will be listed at the bottom along with a link to the game's page.

This is a blog post I read that really hit me how right on it is...Interesting Comparison between Vick and Pete Rose..

"Pete Rose bet on the sport. To the best of my knowledge, he did not OWN THE BETTING VENUE. He was a better. Not a booky and promoter. Just a guy addicted to gambling.
Now this loser SOB vic, let's compare them shall we. Vic OWNED the kennel where the dogs were trained. He went and found dogs to fight, brought them back and tortured them and starved them until they would rip anything to shreds. Fed them gunpowder and beat them regularly. Kidnapped and or otherwise aquired "practice dogs" for the vicious fighting dogs to rip apart. Think BENJI here folks, think taco bell dog, think TOTO from the wizard of oz. Think of all the blood washed down this demons drains?????????? And this he PAID 100's of THOUSANDS of dollars to CREATE, and PROMOTE, and NURTURE this EVIL. He did not stumble and trip and land in a dog fighting arena. He bought the land, built the arena, invited the guests, trained and provided the "entertainment", and made money off this perversion of power. SO THIS GUY IS BEYOND GUILTY.
Pete Rose was and IS a real nice guy compared to this PIG. It is a major insult to Pete to compare him to this type of hell promoter. I never heard of Pete drawing blood or torturing living creatures. Rose was a gambler, vic is a DEMON
AND - Rose was WHITE and BANNED FOR LIFE - so this is not a "cuz he's black issue"
His spirit is DARK, has nothing at all to do with his skin color."

I hope some justice is served on December 10th 2007! I will check in then.

Today is official grand opening of the new Seachickens site. Everything should be in working order to be able to sign up, and add comments, as well for the Chicken Royale to post their ramblings.

Our chicken coupe is new and improved (though still rough around the edges). Hope you like it.
